Naruto realizes he didn't really love Sakura and it was only a crush. He also realizes, he's in love with the most distant person ever, Sasuke. After Sasuke saves him, Naruto doesn't want to feel like he can't do anything, so he tries to save Sasuke. He debates whether to share his feelings, but ends up doing it. Sasuke doesn't know how to feel, and ends up rejecting Naruto, making Naruto heartbroken. Then, at the Battle of The Land of Waves, Sasuke almost dies, leaving Naruto to feel like nothing.
This is a fanfiction between Naruto and Sasuke. Yes, obviously if you have watched the anime then you know that they are both boys, so if you don't like boy x boy, then don't read. :)
