After a series of events in Harper Mane's life unfold, she convinces herself that the world is filled with horrible people (except her mother), and nothing good comes from it.

School for her is simple. Students around her think that she is unemotional with a cold-heart, but they couldn't be more wrong.

Harper struggles at home to take care of the things her mother should be able to, but cannot. After realizing that she gets hurt most with her heart on her sleeve, she withdrawals herself into the person she is today, until Wyatt comes to town.

Dark, brooding, and an expert at keeping a poker face, Wyatt sees himself in Harper, and wants to help her for a reason he cannot figure out.

Stubborn, Harper keeps her facade up for as long as she can, but how long will that be?
