This starts off with Jodi talking about her new experiences in life now that she is a newborn vampire. She made a friend and stuck by a girl named Kathryn. Jodi doesn't know much about her, but she cares for her like a sister. As time goes on, Kathryn's past life will come out, there will be many truths, secrets, and hard things to understand about her.
"I raised my head to find that the sun had finally gone down. Great, I thought to myself. I was still adjusting to this new lifestyle and I know Kathryn was as well. She seemed to be more okay with it, but she still wouldn't tell me exactly how it happened. She always shrugged me off saying that she didn't remember or that she didn't want to talk about it. My memory was fuzzy, but I still remembered the day it happened. How could I forget? Who would forget the day that they were turned into a blood lusting creature, a night walker, a supernatural being? A vampire. That's what I was now. That's what we were now. It's still hard to think about it. I'm undead now. I no longer exist to any of the people who knew me before. I'm a forgotten body on the side of the road. Tossed into the water to flow down the river. I am unimportant to the world."
