It's felt like eons since this story was first ever published onto Wattpad. It had it's up and downs and at one point, I genuinely thought that I wouldn't be able to pursue in this story and I was actually going to take it down but after some persuasion by some of my friends, (you know who you are,) I pressed on and managed to finish it. I was pretty proud of myself when I finished it but now I've read it over again, I don't really see how anyone has actually liked it but thanks for that anyway! -Janelle, 13

Right, guys, 2016 update now, I'm almost 16 and I've read this story and I've just realised how crap it is so sorry for messing up the hobbit for you all but I'm not deleting this Becca it's my first full story. It happened to Sara Miller. Taken from the 21st century, she must navigate through middle-earth to find a way back home. But to do so she will have to understand why the Valar have sent her in the first place, something even Gandalf does not know. All Sara wants to do is return home so she can resume the search for her family but now she is stuck going on this insane quest. Why are wizard's so capricious? Thorin has first hand expearance with one, namely Gandalf. Thorin is determined to reclame his home in Erebor for his people and was even prepared to accept a hobbit on the quest. But now Gandalf insists that if he wants his help he must allow a woman from another world into his company as well. But just because the wizard brings her along doesn't mean Thorin has to play nice. Who is this woman anyhow and why is the Valar's mark on her hand?

This is set post-Smaug and before the dwarves resettle in the Blue Mountains. It describe the years in the life of Thorin Oakenshield between those two events. It is a story of love, lust and adversity. It is also my very first fanfiction with plot. It took me months to write it, so please; be gentle! First of all, I would like the thank my beta-reader and mentor Lady Anne, for all her help and support. Specials thanks to Lady Oakenshield who was kind enough to do a second read for mistakes and typos. Hopefully, they are all gone now! Please note, that I am NOT a Tolkien expert. I did check the Simarilion a couple of times to make sure that what I was writing made sense, but it is possible that some details might not fit in. Also of note, I took inspiration from the fanfic Clarity by Forianna and Thorinsexenshield, for my idea of Arukhel, and though I put a twist on it, I still prefered to reference it, as I did not mean to steal this idea from the author in any way.
