A troubled Oklahoma girl pretends to be a boy to go to war with her brother for the Confederates. There she meets Major Jasper Whitlock. She is dying to tell him her secret, but something happens before she can reveal anything to him. She is whisked off by Eleazar and Carmen to a coven of sisters (later known to be the Denali coven).

Alex, after spending about a century on her own, returns to Alaska. She meets some unexpected guest and goes down to Phoenix. After Bella's accident, Alex meets the whole Cullen family and bumps into a familiar face. They convince her to move to Forks, but when some trouble from the past and present are brought up how does Alex handle it? How will Jasper handle finding out lost secrets from his human life?

Finally, the tension is released. Though Alex's eyes we see parts of Bella's life, but also her relationship with Jasper blossom in the last few chapters of this Jasper Hale love story.
