When the monsters return to the surface, some like Asgore, start killing off people because the power if his soul has driven him insane. Others, like Sans try to protect the people. DISCLAIMER: Several things I have decided on for this fanfiction. Toriel and Asgore got divorced after the death of Chara and Asriel and Asgore's declaration of war. The human souls will be called by names I have decided on for them, not by their soul traits. (Cody and Clover are from the fangames Undertale Green (Kindness) and Yellow (Justice) respectively. The others are Hannah (Perseverance), Amy (Integrity), Echo (Patience), and Leo (Bravery). Chara is a ghost only visible to those that remember (I'm going with Sans, Alphys, and Mettaton (since the latter 2 probably have their research to gain clues of the past timelines. I'm not saying they remember everything, but...), as well as Frisk and the other fallen humans.

Many years have passed since the war between the humans and monsters. The humans won, and shut the monsters in a place called the underground. Keeping them there with a magical barrier, it took seven usable souls to shatter the barrier, but being monsters, their souls didn't work. Instead, they had to use human souls to break the barrier, and even then, humans were not likely to fall in. Because the human waste system ends up in the underground, the monsters are informed of what's going on up on the surface, and have developed human-like lifestyles, which included scholarship, friendships and the like, but it seemed, that the monsters were eager to get back on the surface again. Six humans were unlucky enough to fall into the underground, and the leader of the monsters, Asgore Dreemurr killed these humans to use their souls for removing the barrier. Asgore thought that those humans were the only ones that would fall in, but he was wrong. Two more humans fell in, but their souls were lost before Asgore could even use them, and those soulless ghosts were doomed to haunt the underground. Now playing the waiting game, Asgore patiently waited another human to fall, and fall it would. (Sorry! No Muffet or Grillby in this one!)

This is my first story. But the gist is, a girl named Vex fell into the underground and became part of the Dreemur family. Eventually she wanted to give her soul to monster kind as a thank you for helping her. She wanted the race to live happily. (Y/N), a shy and quiet girl fell into the underground. You lost most of your memories from before you fell. And on top of that, the barrier had not been as persistent as the soul trait it had lacked. With Determination in your soul, you set off on a journey with three friends to get back home.
