The Hollow Marks
In the secluded, small town of Nettle's Hollow, the truth may not save you, but the lies will kill you. When Nathaniel Hawthorne, a werewolf with no memories of his life before the Hollow, returns to his "hometown", another person is murdered, and the timing leads the townspeople to all but confirm his guilt. He himself wonders if he would be capable of such depravity, as he has struggled with the call of the beast since he could remember.
Judith Katz, an old friend of Nathaniel, as well as the town's witch and Archivist, knows what the town wants her to forget. She has kept a fragile peace with the other townspeople, but when the dead begin to speak and the storm that's been building for a century finally breaks, she'll have to decide whether she's meant to preserve the life she's built in Nettle's Hollow, or burn it down.
Told in alternating perspectives with emphasis on tension, The Hollow Marks explores generational memory, identity, and the personal cost of survival. It will appeal to readers who love emotionally restrained horror, as well as fans of gothic who love to see broken protagonists make uneasy choices.
