Dear Lila,
Do you think it's possible to really know a person? And I mean really, really know them. For all us mere mortals know, someone could be a completely different person on the inside than what they externally demonstrate. Sure you can know their quirks, or their scars or birthmarks but I wonder what it’s really like; to know their thoughts without the sugarcoats or alterations. Unfortunately, Lila, this just isn’t possible. The reason I’m asking, you see, is because I know this boy: this lovely, secretive, maniac of a boy. He’s an absolute mystery to me, and I plan on solving him.
Love, Iris

Dear Alfie,
Alfie, it sure has been a long time. When was the last time I wrote in you; a little over a year ago? Well your pages sure are holding up. Anyway, there's something you need to know, and it's less than settling. I heard it again. It wasn't too bad, of course - but I heard it loud and clear. Like an old friend tempting me to come back and wreak havoc, you know what I mean? But you wanna know what stopped me, don't you? A girl. Wanna know how? Me too. It's a mystery. But get this, she's always staring at me like she's trying to read my mind and shit; it's pretty funny. And what's cute is that she thinks I don't notice, but I do. I guess you could say I fancy her a bit, Alfie. There's only one problem. How am I gonna protect her from the past?
Sincerely (and probably not for another year), Niall.
