Donovan Black always thinks back to the words his father would say throughout Donovan's childhood. The Black family have a history in the oil business that goes back four generations. Now, Donovan is of age to assume the throne and bring forth the next generation of the vast empire. Donovan puts everything at stake when he meets young Christina Johnson with a damaged past.
Christina Johnson, or Chris, has had a rough twenty-one years of life. Though, she's only twenty-one years old, she feels she's about fifty with the things that have happened to her. Mother basically killed herself in a car accident while she was pregnant with Chris. Chris's ex-boyfriend had cheated on her and she blames herself for him cheating. She thinks life is out to get her, but then everything changes when she meets Texas's most eligible bachelor at the bar she works at.
Soon feelings begin to form after just one date. Parents and family are met, but their parents try to stop their relationship from going any farther than a few dates and public appearances. Donovan and Chris's parents try to do everything in their power to get Donovan and Chris to break up, but their love for each other is stronger than the ties pulling them back.
With Donovan being almost twenty years older than Chris, can they conquer all odds and make it? Will their parents continue to interfere in their lives? Will Donovan pull Chris into his arms, or will he be nothing more than her sugar daddy?
