Num futuro em que o Brasil é liderado por um fundamentalista religioso, o Escolhido, o simples ato de distribuir livros na rua é visto como rebeldia. Esse foi o jeito que Chuvisco encontrou para resistir e tentar mudar a sua realidade, um pouquinho que seja: ele e os amigos entregam exemplares proibidos pelo governo a quem passa pela praça Roosevelt, no centro de São Paulo, sempre atentos para o caso de algum policial aparecer.
Outro perigo que precisam enfrentar enquanto tentam viver sua juventude são as milícias urbanas, como a Guarda Branca: seus integrantes perseguem diversas minorias, incentivados pelo governo. É esse grupo que Chuvisco encontra espancando um garoto nos arredores da rua Augusta. A situação obriga o jovem a agir como um verdadeiro super-herói para tentar ajudá-lo - e esse é só o começo. Aos poucos, Chuvisco percebe que terá de fazer mais do que apenas distribuir livros se quiser mudar seu futuro e o do país.

More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. I pull his neck down so quickly that he doesn't get the time to adjust to what is going on. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise.
