*** this is a very rough draft***
It wasn't always like this. I remember reading books and watching television shows that portrayed the zombie apocalypse. I would think of ways I would run and hide, what place I might end up, how I would get there and who I was going to bring with me. But it didn't happen that way. It never happens the way you have it planned in your mind. The chaos. The constant state of panic, all the blood and death. It takes its toll on you, either you fight to live or you give up and you die. There aren't any other options!

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Warning: Contains sex, some violence, occasional foul language, and adult issues. Genre: Science Fiction, Romance, Post-apocalyptic, Dark romance Length: 84,468 words This book has been published on Amazon. What happens when the world stops turning the way it should? When the streets of a city once filled with life become hunting grounds for the dead? When the last echoes of civilization are drowned in the screams of the desperate, the selfish, the cruel? The government promised order. The military promised safety. Both crumbled under the weight of their own lies. The infection was only the beginning. The real horror came after. How far will a man go to keep his humanity when starvation gnaws at his ribs and the dead claw at his door? When the strong prey on the weak and power belongs to the ruthless, who decides who gets to live - and who is left behind? Is there still room for kindness in a world where mercy is a death sentence? In the ruins of civilization, the lines between savior and monster blur. Everyone has a breaking point.
