Chromesthesia, better known as Sound-to-color Synesthesia is a type of synesthesia in which heard sounds automatically and involuntarily evoke an experience of color. Synesthetes that perceive color while listening to music experience the colors in addition to the usual auditory experience. The presence of color supplements rather than interferes with the real perception. It is reported that, for most synesthetes, the condition is not wholly sensory and is more often triggered by speech sounds, such as accent, timbre, and pitch.
