Genevieve always thought she was insane; always seeing things that others didn't. She learned this at the age of five when she first mentioned the shadowy figures. One stood out to her in particular. A man with a hood, and a red glow to him; she never saw his face. Never even a glimpse. Though he became more solid as the years past and every time she told someone, they'd look at her as if she lost her mind. It wasn't until she was twelve that she realized that no one else saw the shadows, they didn't see the man in the hood as she did. The man who seemed to be watching her all her life, they didn't see him. If she didn't stop talking about the shadows and the man they'd lock her up, just like they locked mama up a year prior. So from then on silence was her life.

I finally escaped the factory, they kidnapped me from my college. Today is my birthday, and I had planned for it but nothing helped, only calming me down for the moment. My breathing becoming short again, a panic attack was on the verge. A hand was now on my shoulder and another on my cold cheek, making me look into his eyes, "Let me help you..." He whispered. Rubbing his thumb against my cheek, I slowly nod my head, when a pain began to form in my chest. I knew it was coming. I quickly get away, crawling a couple feet away. "Get away!" I yelled. My skin turning white and the pain erupting inside of me, feeling it try to escape, and I know if I let it. It will hurt this man. Suddenly, he was there in my view. Blue eyes staring at me, and then his lips were on my own. Gasping as I felt the pain beginning to disappear from inside me. Eyes drooping and my body relaxing against his. She imagined it almost asking for her touch. It didn't cross her mind how she knew he'd be soft, or how she even knew the creature was a 'he' to begin with. As her finger just barely grazed the animal, multiples things happened. She felt something shock her causing her to pull her hand back, just as thunder and lightning sounded. When the light cleared the animals' eyes, were narrowed into slits, and it was growling. It was a deep menacing sound that sent her stumbling backward, heart wildly beating. It bared fangs the size of her hand alone dipping its head. Had her touch angered the animal into finally attacking her? She kept moving backward in the rain, slipping in her converses as the creature continued growling. It was then she knew she was prepared to run, no matter what happened. Waiting for you to stop noticing, caring, trying. This is not just your fear, well part of it is, but the other parts are because you remember.
