Different Breeds

I snuck in the house with guilt weighing on my heart. I knew I had done wrong; my conscious told me so. Adultery is a crime, and now I had to face the charges of said crime.
Light danced across the floor as a person was pacing back and forth in front of it. The light at the end of the hallway. I'd snicker at the irony if it weren't under such circumstances. I moved in calculated movements toward the door. My breath rattled out of my mouth as I finally met my destination.

"You'll be fine, what's the worst that could happen?" I told myself. Which was an honest question. What really was the worst that could happen? My wife could divorce me, but that'd be doing us both a favor. I could lose my job, but it's not like I actually enjoyed it anyways. I could go to jail...

Before I could prepare myself further, light smacked my sensitive eyes, and I winced.

"Someone's been a naughty boy, I'll be taking you downtown.." My wife sneered as she smacked a plastic baton against her other hand. There she stood with a wild smirk on her face in her "bad cop" uniform.

I sighed.
