Welcome to a world of blood and gore, with demons and vampires and angels galore...

The flu had always been a penetrable foe in the past, but the latest strain came from somewhere else. It wiped out 99% of the world's human population, leaving the remaining 1% to either drown in misery or find new hope in narcissism. Twenty years later, Elijah falls into the latter category. Having discovered that he, and only he, has the ability to draw demons out of the Possessed, he decides that he must have been chosen to lead the 'new world.' However, his attempts to bring the 'chosen few' under his wing do not go as well as he hopes.

Lindsey, on the other hand, falls into a category of his own. As a vampire, death is no stranger, but given the lack of newly deads to choose from after the post-Flu population drop, avoiding starvation has become a struggle. He survives by sleeping through his days, but the arrival of a past enemy and a less-than-wise decision to help a murderer force him back onto the road. Unfortunately, he quickly discovers that the new world does not follow the same logic that it did before.

TL;DR - Most of the world died from a flu pandemic so there's a post-apocalyptic type situation where demons possess people.

Post Plague Kidnapping - Published! by vblawnola
8 parts Complete
It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Warning: Contains sex, some violence, occasional foul language, and adult issues. Genre: Science Fiction, Romance, Post-apocalyptic, Dark romance Length: 84,468 words This book has been published on Amazon. The first ten chapters will be updated to what you get in the published novel and will remain here, so you can try before you buy.

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story. Drowning Fish by Heron Djenne Canvasback by tdbyjw
11 parts Complete
Welcome to the future, written in the past. A mutant plague has rendered part of the population as zombie-like humanoids. They have a conscious mind though, but their craving for brains is a bit of an antisocial issue. Being mostly made up of impoverished individuals, it is not surprised that they got cured cheaply and lastly, despite being the main test subjects. Lochlyn is their representative. She just wanted an education beyond elementary school. A little luckier stricken part of the infected population evolved into reverents. Reverants have a feudal system over the zombies to "keep them in order". The luck may have had to do with them being upper-class when being treated. Basilica is their representative. At eighteen, she wanted body modifications, a job, and etc... as a rite of passage entering adulthood. At least that's what she was thinking. The more she was told no, the more she wondered what she could do. There are still uninfected humans left in the U.S.A. Most of them are middle-class. Katrina is their representative. She gained a family member, but lost two. She aches to find out why she can never return home again. The three eighteen-year-old females, along with their beaus, journey for truth, equality, justice, restoration, love, and freedom lead them to the same end: the capital. Sanctuary

28 parts Complete

Sanctuary. That was what the quarantine dome was supposed to be, a place of refuge from the N-Gel and the deadly Neoplague they unleashed on the world. But we aren't safe here. Senna is uprooted from her rural life in the outer dome when her mother agrees to marry the President of Sanctuary. It was supposed to be a Cinderella story, but Senna can't stand the health and status obsessed city. Her only escape comes from repairing an antique piece of wireless tech, an endeavor that is seemingly hopeless due to the interference that reduced such tech useless after the invasion. Senna believes that if she can get the device to work, she can use it to contact the life she left behind. However, it isn't her old life she reaches when she gets the device to power on. Instead she catches the SOS of a little girl who claims to be held captive in the toxic world outside of the dome. The girl offers a reward for her rescue-the cure for the plague that forced humanity into quarantine and took Senna's father from her.
