"War ain't pretty for anyone, Hanna, and we Jews living beneath the city are getting the worst of it."
Hanna had a good life. She was a relatively happy child, despite the poor village she lived in. Now that will all change. Hitler has taken over much of Europe, and now his aim is Poland. When Germans invade Hanna's little Polish village, the defenseless community of Jews stands no chance. The Porcelain Elephant describes the horror of the Holocaust through a child's eyes, a story of survival, sacrifice, and love.
