A story about myself and a girl I know. The girl, well there's so much and yet almost nothing I could say about her. To start, we met when we were seventeen.

The peak of teenage woes.

Perhaps I was childish then, I thought I was suffering the most. No, I believed I was.

But Leah. She didn't have teenage woes. She had woes far beyond her years that I never understood why, or more importantly, how she got through them. But she did.

And this is my story to tell you. The story of a girl so strong. The story of myself who was so weak. Thinking I was strong but wasn't. Thinking I knew everything about an individual. Little did I know, I actually didn't.

All because I saw brown eyes.
I didn't see the grey in them.

"The moon's really beautiful, if you think about it," I blurted. "Yeah?" he asked, mild amusement and curiosity mingling in his voice. "Yeah," I confirmed. "It's just- there's something about the moon that's ethereal. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's a constant in life. You can't always see it, but you have to trust that it's out there somewhere. And when you can see it, it's all bright and shiny and overcomes the darkness." I paused, searching for the right words. "I don't know. I guess it's a reminder that there are good things out there, even if you can't see them... And it's cool to think that someone hundreds of miles away is staring at the exact same moon as you. It makes me feel not so alone in life." Turning my head, I saw him staring at me intently with a thoughtful look on his face. "Too deep for a Friday night?" I laughed nervously, feeling my face grow hot. And this was precisely why I didn't go to parties. He shook his head and seemed to snap out of his daze. "It was deep in a good way." *** SHE was quiet & left out. 11 Days With Keira Rudd

13 parts Complete

Perfectly curled mahogany hair. Eyes so blue that it looks like the sun was shining right through them. Her smile so bright that it leaves me completely speechless. Her laugh reminding me of the soft melody of wind chimes hanging in trees. When her cheerful voice leaves her perfectly rose-colored lips my heart jumps up in joy, leaving me completely breathless. Being with her makes me feel like I'm about to fly away. Being with the most complex and confusing girl I have ever met makes me feel like I have finally found my second half. And that only after spending 11 days with the girl who pulled me into her unique world, changing me into someone I can't recognize myself. The one who extended my limits and showed me that even I, Riley Young (a socially awkward and shy nerd attending senior year in High-School), am capable of doing unexpected and crazy things. And after all the time we have spent together, I have asked myself how my life would have turned out if I would have never met the ineffable Keira Rudd. [A short story about the sixteen-year-old Riley Young who meets Keira Rudd. A complex girl who teaches him that life is more than just simply following orders and studying for good grades.]
