"That is exactly why you cannot leave. We have to stop them before they hurt anybody else." She paused to take a breath.
"Or before they hurt you." She continued. I half smiled as I took a step towards her, taking her hands into my own. Her focus never left me as she, like me, feared the worst.
"They're after you, Ellie. This is my battle. I'll handle it." I stated before walking past her. I didn't want to risk her, and as much as I wanted her help and for her to be by my side, I couldn't be selfish and put her at risk.
"Harry," she said, making me turn in front of the door.
"I love you. And if holding onto that means fighting the bad guys who want to take that from us, bring it on." I smiled, fighting the urge inside me to fight against her on this.
"Even if that means you'll be fighting against me?" I asked, making her stop and give me a look. I'd seen it before when she was trying to get me to act seriously when we were being silly. But not one of these was a laughing matter.
"You can never hurt me."
"I'm trying to protect you from me."
