Meet Harper Lincoln, a 19 year old student-teacher at Cryptic High School. When she was 16 her mom committed "suicide" but Harper believes she is still alive and is just hiding from her dad. But after Harper's mom left, her boyfriend of three years broke up with her and she developed a drinking problem but through it all she managed to graduate early and earned a scholarship to Cryptic College. As soon as she got into college her dad moved them in with his new wife and her sons who hate Harper. And ever since then Harper has been stone-cold with her family, well everyone except her sister Olivia who is already married and on her own. But for her final year of college her dad moved them back to their hometown and Harper lightens up a bit. She meets someone new, whom she works with everyday and starts falling for but it is has to be kept secret and they find it difficult. But after a while she starts to piece together where her mom may be, but will it be worth it to find her or should she stay keeping it secret?

"Do you know how hard it is for me knowing that you're with someone else?" Tyler asked, staring at me intensely. "You think this is easy for me?" I asked, trying to hold back my tears. Everything was going great, and she thought she was finally beginning to be happy again, but all that changed when Tyler moved back home. Her feelings that she thought she had buried resurfaced.
