We live in a world where monsters are real. Very real. However, only a few people know about it. Only a few people can tell someone is a monster. These monsters aren't like the ones in stories and legends. Oh no, these monsters are different. These monsters are much harder to find. They don't have giant horns or pointy fangs, or any disfigured features at all. No, they look just like you and I, just like normal humans. Violet Parker is one of those special people who can detect the monsters and see past their appearance. She notices the slight differences that others would be oblivious to. You see, Violet's father, Philip, is a "monster hunter". She has grown up with his constant teaching and warning, and has learnt very much from him. One day Philip sets out to 'slay' the monster, otherwise know as Zayn Malik, that lives on the outskirts of town. However, he was not prepared for the strength and power that Zayn possesses, thus causing him to be captured. Violet would do anything to save her father... Even if it means giving up her own freedom. Will this turn out to be the best mistake she has ever made?
