Recognizable by the sheet metal hung around their necks. Each Mercenary holds a name and a necklace of their own design. Five out of the thousands of Mercenaries there are, hold a special stone with them, at all times. They are to make sure that the Mercenaries, stay Mercenaries. Rule one and the most important of five: Do not kill anyone not affiliated with the job at hand, "We are Mercenaries, not murderers". Jackson, a Mercenary, been one since he was very young. He is a man that has gained, and earned, respect, to the highest degree. If someone doesn't know who he is, they'll learn. Very, quickly. So will you. So first things first I love being vague so if you don't understand what I'm talking about or something it will probably be explained later so stay with me. Secondly first chapter is complete shite, I would change it but I'm lazy and it sets up my characters so I'm not just gonna delete it. So read the first chapter for the plot and please continue to the second if you still don't like my writing then you can leave, that's all I'm asking. So that's all I got to say so I'm gonna get on with it. Also I swear a fuck ton so if you don't like swearing get out.

Hey this is the first time I wirite a first novel, and I hope you like it. I mainly do this to get better in englisch, so there might be some grammatical mistakes or sentences that don't make sense. The novel is about the mc and his adventures. The story will be slow-paced and will sometimes have huge time jumps. The world will be kind of magical but there won't be giantig, world-destroining magics/ monsters. At least not now (Maybe in the future). Enjoy the story and I would greatly appreciate feedback on what to do better. The novel won't be updated regulary because I also have many things to do all day instead of writing. But I will not drop it and try to update it at least every two weeks. The chapters will have at least 1k words. I hope you enjoy the novel

I'm going to write a series of stories about my O.C going through different Universes and Realities from Gaming and a little bit of Anime as well. As he struggles though each one, he begins to have an understanding about himself as he gets stronger. *I will be going through the stories as both an omniscient and omnipresent narrator, and through the eyes of my O.C. The difference is that through the Narrator, I can drop hints and foreshadow what is coming next, whereas through my O.C, I can only talk and think with what I already know. Pretty Much...switching from 1st person to 3rd person and vice versa. I Commenced My Descent by thomasiota

This is a significantly altered version of H. P. Lovecraft's horror story "The Alchemist." The original was written in 1908, and so is, as of 2020, well within the public domain. The text was taken in 2020 from this URL: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Alchemist_(Lovecraft) and modified by Wil Wroge (another pseudonym of Thomas Iota) as a response to a writing challenge issued by claytemplemedia.com I always enjoyed "The Alchemist" but did not consider it critically until Clay Temple Media made it the focus of one of their episodes of The Elder Sign podcast. Among other valid criticisms, the hosts suggested that Antoine, the protagonist, lacked agency, the supporting character Pierre was unsympathetic and illogical, and the antagonist was too easily overcome. So, I accepted this as a writing challenge. I've replaced Pierre with Agace (whom I hope is more sympathetic), given Antoine a much broader character arc, and made the antagonist, setting, and overall tone noticeably darker. I kept as much of the original text as possible, but I altered many sequences and added content freely in hopes of expanding the original enough to give the characters more interaction. I did my best to mimic the density of Lovecraft's diction and style in plot and setting revelations, but attempted also to add some of my own action and suspense into the climax. A warning to parents: there is significantly more violence in this story than in Lovecraft's original. The cover is an image from the public domain, taken from the book "Old and New London" by Walter Thornbury published circa 1887.
