Fernheart doesn't know who to be loyal to. Though he lives and hunts for Mapleclan, he feels obligated to care for Amberclan. Some of those cats are the ones who helped him through the sickness that tormented the clans moons and moons ago. And he wonders whether the warrior code is wrong to forbid him from loving them. He doesn't think he can stand hurting them and sick of hurting. He wants to leave.
Robinpaw is the closest she can be to her brother. She loves her family and would never think foul of them. However, when she notices her mother acting strange in the battles against Mapleclan, a secret unfurls, fragments her reality, and makes her question who she should really care about.
Lionrose is keeping a terrible secret. He knows what can happen if they leave. And he knows why his mentor, Brookrush, went. Ever since he became a medicine cat, he questioned if he could really save cats lives. And as the war gets worse, he questions if Starclan wants him to fail.

Firepaw is an apprentice training to be a warrior in TreeClan. After being separated from his family by a fox, he is forced into unknown terrain and picked up by a TreeClan border patrol. Firepaw proves himself worthy of becoming an apprentice. But life as a clan cat proves to be difficult and not just because it's winter and prey is scarce.
