"I hope Ethan and I didn't get you in trouble with your Dad." Zach said with a faded smile. He started kicking his feet in the water.
"My dad is just protective over me when it comes to boys. He doesn't want me getting hurt again." I pulled away from him so I could look at his expression.
"Oh, what do you mean by again?" he had a sympathetic look in his eyes. It broke my heart to see him like this.
"I haven't had a boyfriend in a while because I dated a boy freshman year for about 6 months. He cheated on me with the prettiest girl in school; I thought it was the end of the world and thought I couldn't move on. But Whitney came along and helped me through it. Without her I don't know where I'd be right now." I could feel tears forming in my eyes.
I looked into his eyes. A tear rolled down my cheek; Zach wiped it with his thumb. He leaned closer to kiss me.
