Xiao LianHua a kind, bright and soft hearted girl is the daughter of Princess HiuLing and General Xiao DeLun, the emperor's most trusted man. After Princess HiuLing can't give him a son, General Xiao marries Princess HiuLing's older sister Princess MeiRong. Not long after Princess MeiRong gave birth to a son and soon after a daughter. 

Through the many years LianHua and her mother suffered from sadness and pain from the evil older sister. The father who she loved dearly treats her differently from her two younger siblings. Though sadden by all of this she still have a little bit of happiness in her life due to her grandmother and the Second Prince, Wu GuoZhi. But sadly the only happiness she had left was taken from her. Second Prince was forced and marries Lianhua's step sister Xiao BiYu. Soon after her grandmother passes away.

After that LianHua never met Wu GuoZhi ever again. Two years after BiYu comes to visit. Second prince wants to become emperor but is not the choosen one. The position will be given to the fifth prince, who's never been seen by anyone. GuoZhi is angered by the emperor's decision and wants to get rid of his brother. BiYu asked for her father's help and said there will be a reward.

Through alot of thinking General Xiao decides that he will marry Lianhua off to the fifth prince. After LianHua gets the trust and love from the fifth prince she will kill him. General Xiao brings up the marriage to the emperor and he agrees. LianHua is very sad that she will be used to kill someone who will be her husband. The day before her marriage she learns that the fifth prince name was Wu GuoWei. When it came to her she was in shock. Before her grandmother passed away her grandmother told her to promise that she will protect Prince Wu GuoWei. He must become emperor to save the people and the country.

What will LianHua do? Will she side with her father who she wants love from? Or will she keep the promise that she made with her grandmother.
