After a devastating event that occurred in the summer before senior year, Amanda Gilbert bears the loss of her best friend, Emma Jensen. Disconnecting from the world, Amanda feels alone and blames herself for best friend's death. Things not going so good in Texas, Amanda and her family move to San Diego, California for a fresh new beginning. There, she meets surfer boy Shane Adkins who not only teaches her how to  forgive herself, but how to love. Will Amanda be able to move on and forgive herself for the event that changed her life?

DECEMBER 2024 UPDATE: this story received a BIG update! all of the chapters have been revised, and the plot changed a little. i highly recommend re-reading bc its way better now i swear🙏 Mandy was always one to falsely romanticize her life. She found her first love at a young age in her Martial Arts class, and wrote a love letter to him. They were best friends, but it all crashed and burned with her letter, and he soon disappeared afterwards. Now, as a 17 year-old high school girl, Mandy was at the peak of her high school career. She had great success with academics and popularity. But then, it all was taken from her when her parents decided to move to another state the summer of her senior year. And whilst in her new environment, she met some interesting new people, but reunited with her first love again. Only this time, Mandy wanted to avoid him at all costs. But you know what they say: "You never forget your first love...."
