There's something about red-headed little girls that seems to make everyone believe that they have to be the most delightful little children who talk too much and have a larger imagination than the number of freckles on their nose.

But it's not 1908 anymore. Matthew Cuthbert isn't going to pick up Anne Shirley in a buggy.
Matthew Cuthbert is going to meet Anne's social worker first, and then will find a girl who was always meant to be happy, but never quite was because it's a dog eat dog world, and she had found herself on the wrong end of that equation.

Anne Shirley is an orphan who grew up in the foster care system, unloved and unwanted. Anne Shirley grew up with social media criticizing her body image and cultivating her fears. Anne Shirley grew up in group homes and foster families, and things happened there that she would never tell the outside world.

Parts of Anne have been left in the various hells she has been forced to live in, and Matthew can only pray that he will be able to pull her out.

"Sometimes I wonder what that brain of yours is thinking about." I jump and turn to see the one and only. "Gilbert. I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain my thought process to you." He places a hand on his chest in mockery, "You strike me down hard, Shirley! Truly, I'm wounded," I'd like to wipe that insulting smile from his face. The relationship between Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe has never been a good one. They've been rivals in school since she moved to Avonlea. Gilbert is perceived by Anne as a confident player who flirts with any pretty girl, but is it true? Or is Gilbert's true goal to catch the heart of the girl who never threw it at him?
