It was fairly early on in the day, just about noon. Aaliyah was up and actually out before 2 for once. She felt as though she stayed cooped up in her room far too often and decided that today she'd walk to Dunkin Donuts. It was a bright, beautiful day; something that no one would ever want to forget. As she walked down the walkway towards the Dunkin, she noticed a boy across the street skating in the same direction. Little did she know how much this boy would cloud her thoughts.

Katiya Carpenter was born and raised in a perfectly small beach town. She spent her summers with the well-off "summer kids" and her best friends, she worked at the diner, and was top of her class. Life was good, until it wasn't. Eventually, Kate finds herself cheated on and unsure of her future. Until the Michaels move into town for the summer. And it might just happen that Jackson Michaels is exactly what she needs. ----------- I turned back to my friends, my eyes instantly running into Jack's. He was standing in front of the bleachers with Hendricks and a few other guys, talking to Genny. Jack was staring at me, as soon as I turned he flipped his head the other way. But it was too late. "Jack, right?" I said, smiling and getting his attention. "Yeah. You're Katiya, Kate." He gave me a dazzling smile. It made me smile back at him. "I mean, most people just pick one of the options, not both." He chuckled a little and took a step towards me. "Both is good. Who are you here to see?" He asked, looking around, and past me. "Nobody in particular." I seemed to say easily, even though I was in fact, here to watch Jason and my dad. "I mean, everyone. I know a lot of people. Small town." I tried to correct myself immediately, and I noticed Hannah holding back laughter as I stumbled on my words. "Gotcha." He said, still smiling wide and taking a glance back at the field. "Good to see you again, Katiya Kate." This time he said it as if it were one word. It made me smile on the inside. He turned and jogged back towards his team. I was such an idiot.

HIM I used to be a heartless man. I did, however, realize that I do have a heart when I first set my eyes on her and felt my heart skip a beat. Her purity and innocence really appeal to me.
