A Human Heart

Turned at the age of 19 by a man she thought she could trust, Esther Ellister found herself thrust into a world she never dreamed existed. Taken in by a group of vampire hunters that showed up just a few moments too late, and who believe she managed to retain her human heart and mindset, Esther also quickly found herself stepping into a world in which no one else thought she belonged.

Wanted dead by the pureblooded Nobility, and distrusted by most members of the Union of Rogue Hunters, she forged her new life with the help the only people she knew she could turn to--the hunters who saved her. She never expected to become a hunter, a savior, a nightmare, or a symbol of both hope and fear, but she did.

However, even in the face of success, she finds it difficult to let the past go. Her relationships with many of her friends' families died with them, and she rarely forms close relationships with her own kind. She lives to work, but past and present begin to collide when she is assigned to work with the great grandchildren of her late friends, as well as a pureblooded Noble who bears a striking resemblance to the man who Turned her, in order to stop a series of murders that threaten to expose vampire-kind.

Can her still-human heart take it, or will Esther fall apart?
