Veda never wanted to know Kai. It's not that he was a bad guy, in fact he was quite fun. The problem was, he wasn't real. No, seeing him doesn't make her special, it makes her insane and being insane as a citizen of the Permanent Star is worse than death. 
 With the rebels closing in Leader Greene began to filter the insane from his resilient citizens which led close friends Veda and Raya to flee from everything they've known and take refuge with four renegade soldiers who have their own agenda to take care of. 
Veda will be pushed past her limits as she's expected to fight, deceive, and protect her biggest secret of all even when her heart is on the line. Kai may just be the end of young Veda Allaway.
