Maureen Evans was raised in a very strict religious family with a father who fancied himself the leader of a huge and influential church. It was a scary, constantly changing life, and one that Maureen didn't want any part of. When she graduated from high school, she disobeyed her father's orders and ran away to attend college.

After a few years out in the world, Maureen still feels like a fish out of water, despite her roommate Summer's efforts to help her make friends and have fun. Summer drags Maureen along to a concert, even though Maureen isn't at all familiar with the band, Loveless, or its lead singer Casey Black. She's immediately drawn to him, despite Summer's warnings that he's trouble.

Casey is a womanizer and notorious partier with a darker past than he likes to reveal. Something in Maureen's innocence fascinates him and makes him want to be the person he used to be. It isn't an easy ride for either of them, but if anyone can help Casey fix his life, it just might be Maureen.
