Thorin Oakenshield has lost it all. His home, his family, his kingdom and the love of his life. He has no one, apart from his two young nephews and his little sister. Thorin lives a life of solitude and hard work, alone in his house in Ered Luin.
Hazel is alone, scared and traumatised. Her life in the orphanage is hard, she is bullied and verbally abused on a daily basis. And no one seems to care.
No one, apart from Thorin Oakenshield himself.
Can one little girl save the dwarf king from himself? And can he help her recover from her dark past?
Notes: There are some mature themes in this story, I am sorry if it offends anyone, please do not read if you don't think you can cope with it. This story does deal with alcoholism and abuse but I will warn at the start of chapters that contain this content. The character of Hazel belongs completely to @The_Hells_Angel. I'm sorry if Thorin is a bit out of character, I had to make him a little less grumpy

There, the three dwarves begin the long, arduous, and taxing road to recuperation and all Thorin wants it to be well enough to return to Erebor and his rightful place on that throne. Amara makes him want to punch something, but at the same time, with each day, his desire for her outweighs his aggravation with her. Amara of Rivendell has devoted her life to healing, but she never expected to meet someone like Thorin. The proud, stubborn dwarf challenges her to no end, and in return, she works him until he swears revenge. But along the way, she realizes there is more to the King Under the Mountain than meets the eye, and as they come to know one another, she becomes more determined to break down his walls and bring some happiness into his life. But, while Azog the Defiler is gone, another has taken his place and like his predecessor, has vowed to end the line of Durin for once and for all, and just might be successful in shattering the fragile peace Thorin and Amara find in each other's arms.Complete

After the Fire
Following the Battle of the Five Armies, a grievously wounded Thorin is brought back to the kingdom of Erebor, which is still mostly in ruins. Although he's survived the wounds he received at the end of Azog's blade, his recovery is far from complete. When she's asked to help the dwarves tend to their wounded, medical student Jasna Stoneham reluctantly agrees. Not only is she only just barely a qualified to even set foot in the infirmary, but she stutters when she gets nervous and nervous does not even begin to describe how she's feeling. To make matters worse, no one thought to warn her that she would be caring for the king himself, Thorin Oakenshield. Unfortunately, the road to recovery isn't necessarily a smooth one, but if there's one thing Thorin will learn, it's that what Jasna lacks in experience and training, she makes up for in stubbornness, giving him a run for his money. And for every backwards step he takes, she is there to push him three steps forward. And Jasna will soon find out that there is a gentle, softer side to the dwarf king, one that very few people have ever seen and one he fights to keep hidden from her as well.
