One Fallen angel has managed to redeem himself. Lucifer has been told the news. He's both delighted in it, but his heart also feels a ping of despair. He was the one that lead the rebellion that led to their fall from grace in the first place. There was no way he could see for him to regain his own grace back and redeem himself. 

Balthazar believes and knows differently. God has sent him back down to Hell to guide Lucifer in finding the one thing that could redeem him. Balt brings Lucifer up from his sulking and into the light of the mortal world. Balt helps introduce Lucifer to the modern world. Lucifer gets distracted though by the sounds of a woman crying.
