They believe he's some type of devil worshipper but after speaking with him, I can't seem to ascertain why. The man is intelligent and eccentric but from what I can see of his inventions, he's only brought good to their island.
"I was able to speak with several of the locals. One of their elders says that a vote was taken several years ago and the consensus was to ostracize this one. I'm pretty sure he's our guy."

Pain, anxiety, internal conflict and turmoil.
My brain is melting and I fear I'm running out of time
Everything is fading, I'm in a daze and I can't figure out why
Voices in my head tell me the only option remaining is to take my own life

I work toward something every day
I find another excuse and another reason not to pray
Again I know I'll find myself trapped within my mind's endless maze
I feel crushed by an invisible weight

Demons are taking hold of my limbs
And devils threaten to rob me of every material I accumulate
Weakness is the only thing I cannot face because it ends in my demise
Words are useless and god is worthless

Every prayer for peace is answered with another trial and another painful memory
Every plea for purpose is returned with another reason to create my own
Every admission of want, of need is met with the call to find my own solution
Every hope is met with a past tense reminder that it's too late for me.
Each act of faith and the resulting confidence and pride is the only evidence I have of a living god.
