Lacey Martinez is an 18 year old, African American Latina from Staten Island, New York. She's always been a quiet girl by nature but when it's time to have fun, she knows how. Growing up in the projects she's always avoided dealing with the thug type of guys and always kept her head in the books. With just a few weeks until she leaves for college, things slowly change for Lacey.  King Matthews has changed his life around. Growing up in the tough streets of Brooklyn in the Brownsville projects, King had to fight his way to live. Now at age 20, he's got his head on straight and is leaving his past behind him. It isn't until one summer day while at a cookout he meets Lacey and instantly falls for her, things start to change for him. Hoping for a better future, demons from his past come to haunt him, jeopardizing everything for him, even his new found love for Lacey.
