No one remembers when exactly the storms first started. What is remembered is remembered is the destruction and death that came after. Most of the population was killed in the first wave, and those that survived scrape by in hiding and constant fear. The husks come with the storms of purple mist, doors to their realm open and their hoards pour through destroying and killing all in their wake. Lucky for the human side of the fight technology still works, storm shields originally designed to prevent tornado damage in the Midwest United States, now stand as the last line of defense for small settlements. The other line of defense are the heroes, brave men and women who have taken it upon themselves to explore beyond the shield to find survivors and fight the storms.
