When Ellie's 4th Grade teacher tells her to write a letter to a close relative, the teacher could never have anticipated the letter that would come. Somewhat horrified, but mostly wrought with compassion for the brave little girl, the teacher realizes that the letter is written to Ellie's father, who died shortly before Ellie's birth, giving him a very important piece of news that he will need in the near future: news of the fight of Ellie's life, which inevitably ends up with a happy reunion, in the young girl's eyes.

The idea of this story has hit me square to the face when I watched one of my favorite novellas on television.
