Have you ever looked at a candle? The way it flickers and glows with such anticipation and excitement for life as if it can't wait to grow into a raging fire.
He had that look in his eyes. That burning want to grow stronger, to see what was just around the next corner in his life. For a while, I was what that corner, the thing he always chased, the thing he spent all his time looking for. The thing he'd be so excited to see when he finally reached me and started a new adventure.
Have you ever looked at a candle? The way it flickers and glows as it tries and tries to grow stronger, even though it can't. Candles always seem so happy and lively and excited, but over time their wax drips away and their fire burns out.
He was just like that. He was just like that with me, especially. The excitement in his eyes when he saw me, the laughter, the adventure, the happiness... It was all with me. But even fire dies.
And we all know that a fire once burned doesn't come back.
