Harmed Souls

Soul-takers are usually portrayed as heartless beings with no morals, and who only seek to do their job. But in this short-story, a special Soul-taker, named Death, learns that there's more to the job than just retrieving the dead. One small act from a girl, creates a domino effect leading to Death's discovery of love.

He learns to see that each soul is different but the same in many ways. Taking place in a large cotton farm before the civil war, the story takes you on a short journey inside a mind that you would not expect to have emotions.
And really in the end, just like others of his kind, they are haunted by our souls.
