The Quiet Things We Never Said
LORELAI
Lorelai grew up in a house where love was unpredictable.
She learned to read tone before she trusted words.
Learned how to sense when the air in a room was about to change.
Learned that asking for too much could cost her more than staying quiet.
Now she calls herself independent.
She keeps her expectations low enough that disappointment feels manageable.
It's easier to act like you don't need tenderness
than to admit how badly you want it.
She doesn't think of herself as someone who ruins things.
But she has started to question
whether protecting her heart
has cost her more than she expected.
ELLIOT:
Elliot has rebuilt his life piece by piece.
There was a time when he didn't trust his own decisions.
When evenings blurred into mornings and regret came in waves.
When numbing himself felt easier than sitting with what he felt.
He doesn't romanticize that version of himself.
He doesn't excuse it either.
He keeps routines now.
Keeps his days structured and deliberate.
He measures progress in small, quiet victories no one else sees.
Control has become his comfort.
To most people, he appears steady - reliable, composed, careful.
What they don't see is how much effort that steadiness takes.
He carries guilt he doesn't speak about.
Not loudly. Not dramatically.
Just enough to remind him of who he once was.
He tells himself he has changed.
And he has.
He just isn't sure whether change erases what came before
or simply teaches you how to live beside it.
If you think topics like (alcohol, drugs, suicide, addiction, etc) are triggering for you, please do not read this.

Authors Note:
I never expected this book to reach so many people, but I'm grateful it has.
A lot of what I wrote (so far) was inspired by very real experiences, and I hope this story not only resonates with people, but also brings awareness to things that are too often left unspoken.
Thank you ❤️🩹
