(GrimDecember)

Ava Kemper is on the verge of adulthood and feels the pressure from her wealthy parents to find success in a world that she cannot define as her own. The world is perceived differently by her classmates and society as a whole--some see it in the form of shapes, glittering auras, or otherwise. But she has not found the lens with which she must perceive the world she is in. Her shocking, forest green hair and eyes to match make her stand out from the crowd, paired with her shortness and pale, white skin. She has been an outcast for as long as she can remember. The world is a blank canvas; it seems that it always will be and that she'll be doomed to musing on what it could be with her writing until she becomes a host for a German exchange student named Jamie. When she meets them, her world changes completely as they work together to find out what the world means to each of them.

(S. F. Grey)

Jamie Denker, known to the rest of the world as Raisa, has struggled their whole life to fit into a society that demands rigid definitions. As an outlier, they find it difficult to cope with the pressures placed on them by the world at large to just be a normal, happy teenage girl. When their school offers them the opportunity of a lifetime -- an exchange trip to a country with its own unique perspective -- they leap for it, hoping they'll feel like less of an oddity in a different culture. They leave behind everything they've known to immerse themself in a world both separate from and much the same as the one they leave behind, with one major difference: a girl named Ava. When they discover that the two both lack perspectives of their own, everything changes. The only question is, will it be for better or for worse?

"Give me a reason then." The boy demanded, eyes fuelled by a rage that was not unknown to him. "What?" Emmett questioned. "Give me a reason, tell me a lie, that contradicts to what you feel for me and I swear to you, I'd leave you alone." "I don't feel anything for you." Emmett easily lied, ignoring the ache in his heart at his words. "Not good enough." Emmett lashed out, shaking with agony as he had never known as his voice quivered pathetically, "I look at you and I see my world-shattering into these despicable shards of audaciousness that reflect my only desires, otherwise deemed unworthy by the universe. This is what I truly feel for you." "Is that what you really feel for me, darlin'?" "Yes and don't call me that, my name is-" "I don't care what your name is, just answer me." Disclaimer: I wrote this novel before the movie Lucy came out it is in no way related but the premise of the brain and the powers eerily similar It is the year 2173. Human beings have evolved to use more than 10% of their brain, and as an effect, possess supernatural powers. Luna and Lara Valkyrie grew up in a foster home in the town of Westhaven, California. Both 18 and having been born on the same day, they were raised as twins, Luna adopting Lara's surname because of her own being unknown. Westhaven is a lovely town, the perfect place to live the american dream in. There is only one problem. Not only there, but in almost every place in the world, human beings are branded with a number, that being the amount of supernatural abilities they possess. By the time each child reaches the age of 18, that number becomes permanent, and everyone with a ranking above 5 is taken away. From that moment on, they belong to the government, and must train in government facilities that are a lot like prisons or army bases. Their eyes are changed by machines, and they are identified for the bright aura-like color that surrounds their pupils and contrasts against their natural eye color, "the sunflower effect". The day of the chosen has come, and Luna Valkyrie is a seven. When she is taken by government guards, she believes her life is over. That is, until she meets Alexandra Pertierra, a brazen 23 year old with a rank of eleven who turns her world upside down with a cocky smirk. *An aftermath to Wicked Intentions*

Grim Echoes by ryanahunter

Maeve's ability to touch others' souls can be heartbreaking and confusing, but when she connects with two murderers, it turns her world upside down. Are they still killers if they only kill monsters? What starts as a random attack on the street stopped by two strangers quickly escalates as Maeve discovers her attackers were demons. Thrusting her into their violent world, Maeve struggles to hold on to her humanity, making choices she never believed she would have to make. Disturbed but drawn to each of them. Will's bestial nature calls to her one moment and rejects her the next. While a powerful attachment to Ander's gentle soul comforts her, but every time they connect, she feels his darkness just below the surface. Will's entire life has been a war against monsters, alongside his best-friend Ander. Honor bound by duty, he is brutal, relentless, and uncompromising in his mission to protect the masses. He didn't understand how much his world would change after saving Maeve, or how she would shatter his convictions. Ander may have magical talents but in his mind, nothing will redeem him from the abomination he is. Bound by more than shed blood, Will, his adopted brother, and only friend. Together they seek and destroy aberrations that poison the world. Until Maeve touched his hand, there was nothing else but the mission. With her, Ander could see a different side of himself, a different life. This is a character driven story written from the 3 main characters POV's. It's a mature adult dark romance & contains dubious triggering situations that some might find offensive. If you want an instant, fearless heroine, Maeve won't be it. Her story is discovering who she is & what power love can bring versus kicking monsters asses. Power & money aren't the only things that make the world turn & those that wield the greatest power control destiny. If you're looking for heroes, Will & Ander are NOT it. If you're drawn to tortured villainous souls, you'll enjoy their saga.

"I see the world and it seems like I see it so differently than most other people. It makes me really angry most of the time. Especially since no one ever listens to me or what I've got to say. I try to express myself in so many different ways and no one sees it. When I sing a song people will only care about how the music sounds or how much I swore. If I paint, people will see the picture but not the meaning. It seems so obvious to me but everyone just seems to... close their eyes. Or at least shut off their brain. As if I see things they don't. But when they don't listen, how can I communicate that to them? It's so frustrating." Allie is a high school student and has big plans to make the world a better place. But her own head is pitting against her, throwing rocks in her path on a daily basis. Everything seems to be great for a while but what happens when her world suddenly comes crashing down around her? Can she ever recover? A coming-of-age story that deals with mental ilnesses, grief, first loves and family, briefly taps into the subject of religion and will likely enrapture you. Trigger warning: mental illnesses, self harm, death, dealing with grief, mentions of guns and gun control, mentions of cults, mentions of homophobia, dissociation. Names of bands, band members and song titles have been changed but at this point I want to credit mainly Palaye Royale, the band 'Homesick Soldiers' that is mentioned throughout is heavily based off them, but I'm sure if you're familiar with them you would have been able to tell that :)

"Is this what you wanted? To be taken from behind on my desk like a slut?" She demanded, tightening her grip around my hair, pulling my head back. "Look at me, Eden." My eyes met hers, and I almost shivered as I was met with the undeniable lust behind them that replaced her anger mere seconds ago. "I just like pissing you off, I guess." I smiled innocently, alluding to her previous question. Her eyes darkened, before letting go of my hair and grabbing my throat instead. I felt her fingertips trail over over my soaked underwear, and a moment later she brought one of my hands to my core, instructing me to hold the lace fabric to the side, as she began to slowly circle my wetness, before dipping two fingers inside me without warning. My eyes rolled back, a moan escaping my lips as I whispered her name. "God, my name sounds like a sin on your lips." She purred over me, curling her fingers inside me, while thumbing my dripping core. - An innocent waitress, a flirt of a mafia boss, and a relentless string of...well, problems. A fun little story to read, very gay, with plenty of romance, as well as - dare I say - humor.
