That's why Barry went back in time to save his mother from being killed. But that meant altering the current timeline he lived in. Trying to make the girl he loved his once again. But he soon realizes that this timeline is ruining his memories of the other timeline, and his speed. The only way to keep all those memories, and his speed, is to let his mother die.
