A hidden war between witches and pirates has been storming for decades, a gem wielding unmeasurable power the cause of it all. According to the tales, the gem is kept guarded by the most malicious beast of the sea, killing any who sail too close. Only one pirate has ever seen the beast and survived.

Evangeline Thomas is a witch living in a mundane town where it isn't easy hiding her unusual nature. Completely unaware of the war in which she is involved, she is determined to repress her magic that may get her killed if any should discover it.

Her life spirals from unfavourable to absolute chaos after her secret is discovered and she gets tangled with the business of notorious pirates seeking immortality. With Captain Percival Knox's hope tied to the old folktale of the infamous pirate and the powerful missing gem, he temporarily teams with the enemy and makes a dangerous deal with Evangeline which will send them both off the edge of the map. 

As Evangeline and Captain Knox's lives begin to overlap, a new world is exposed to Evangeline, a world hidden in the corners and cracks of humanity. Adventure and the promise of her freedom drive Evangeline away from the unforgiving town she grew up in to a life she never knew existed.
