As a teenage mom I have made many mistakes... Dealt with abuse, addiction, and a host of personal childhood horrors.
How does this pass down to your children, one must remember they were along for the ride. Coming to terms that you have failed in areas of your parenting; when all along you have deluded yourself in believing that you did everything to protect and ensure they felt and knew how much they were loved each and everyday.
When your children become adults and you are horrified to see your own patterns guiding their lives - a revelation like no other presses down upon you. The blinders are ripped from your eyes and you must deal with the hard truths about yourself and how to respect your adult children and be there for them. Powerless to right any wrongs from a past littered with ignorance, shame, pain, and loss.
