Cassandra Danielle Meyers is the plain Jane of Gauss High School, an academy dedicated to mainly science and math. She’s average- mousy brown hair and muddy eyes, straight B’s, and a meager amount of friends. But that doesn’t matter when Cass is diagnosed with metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma- a primary bone cancer that has given her a 25% chance to live. And it’s not just terrorizing her lifespan, either. She gets broken bones without ever injuring herself, a constant fever, and interminable pain.

On the other hand, Jack Belinski is your typical nerd- a steady flow of A’s, the maximum of zero girls making puppy eyes at him, and strict parents that almost require Jack to play the violin professionally. He knows about cancer more than a doctor graduating with honors and a major in that field does, and his father is that doctor. That doctor treating Cass, who’s cancer is a secret from the Gauss High.

When her case of Ewing’s sarcoma is revealed to Jack, he enlists the help of a long time friend and certified oncologist named Samantha Bullock. Can a college student looking for work and an unnoticed classmate save Cass’ life, or is it too late?
