Three years after overcoming a devastating car accident, Todd wakes from what he thinks is a terrible dream to see his mother embrace his motionless body below, realizing he has died. To ease his transition into Heaven, he tells stories about the unconditional love of his mother, family, and friends to all the other little angels.
One little angel, Haley, knew no such love during her short years on earth. She is enchanted by the goodness of Todd's family and decides to visit his mother on earth. Mesmerized by her daring adventure and happiness, all the other angels decide to follow her-leaving Heaven and finding families on earth who will also love them unconditionally.

The sudden appearance of so many little children on earth in search of families, causes quite the stir in the small town of Woodridge Lake. As news reports go viral across the Nation, many undeserving parents recognize their deceased child, which leads to chaos, confusion, and fear.

Todd is joined by an Elder, the Scribe, who is the keeper of all people and events on Earth. They need to gather all the little angels from earth and return them to Heaven before the news reporters discover the truth. And he must do it without being seen by his mother. Haley is the first one to convince.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Alice (Todd's mother) has the daunting task of learning how to live without a part of her heart. Told from alternating POV (Todd and Alice) we follow their journey as they both travel into a new tomorrow neither of them expected to ever be so soon.

Trapped in an unfamiliar world, sixteen-year-old Quinn is frustrated that none of the strange Tree People appreciate his urgency to get back home to earth. Now he is faced with a choice that could change the course of his life: escape and find his own way home, or stay and help them find the cause of the poison ravishing their world. When the mind-reader unlocks one of the ancient mysteries of the Tree People it points to the only way of saving them from annihilation: they have to find the Power of Light. Castiel is an angel of the lord. When it is prophesied that he will fall in love with a human and that act will destroy Heaven, the angels close themselves off from Earth. Years later, demons are becoming more and more powerful, and without their adversaries, Heaven has decided to reopen. To ensure their safety however, they decide to kill the one angel that could ruin it all. Fearing for his younger brother's life, Gabriel takes Castiel and flees to Earth and the one brother who will help him: Lucifer. Meanwhile, Dean and Sam Winchester's father hasn't been home in a long while. Fearing the worst, they contact their uncle, John's younger brother, Michael Henry Winchester. Michael discovers John has been possessed by the demon who killed his wife and is after Sam, so he moves the three of them to a small lumbering town to hide the boys. Unfortunately, it's the same town Lucifer has been hiding for the past couple years. When their lives intersect, will it lead to more tragedy, or will the angels and Winchesters be able to save the world, and themselves?
