Lucy is in the guild, Angels Heart, that saved her and her two sisters when they were very young. Master Pepper dies and the guild is left to her evil nephew Raven.
Master Raven hates Lucy and her sisters, Pepper always liked them better than him. So as punishment he lets his daughter, Mercy, beat them. He never lets them quit the guild or he would hunt them down.
Lucy has a plan to get them out of the now evil guild. It involves a game, an audience and other guilds.
Natsu and the gang are competing in the GMG this year. Master warned them of an other guild that is competing that could be a big problem,
