It has been a year since Link and Zelda have restored Hyrule Castle and the morale of their people. The plains are bountiful with flora and fauna, the evils of the world have been erased, and Zelda has risen from the ashes of her past to become the Queen of Hyrule.

Link, however, is locked in a battle between being the knight that Zelda needs or letting his guard down and allowing himself to fall deeper in love with her. If she even feels the same way...and if she did, how would Hyrule feel about the young ruler averting her attention to focus on her own interests before her kingdom's?

[Original Description] Link has finally returned to Hyrule after being forced by the Hyrule goddesses to sit aside for seven years so that time itself can continue to flow smoothly. And naturally everyone is excited over the return of the Hero of Time, especially Princess Zelda. When Link tells Zelda of his journeys through other lands, one of those tales becomes all too real for the princess. What is it? Only one way to find out! To reiterate, this story isn't mine. It was written by someone going by the name "Grey" on VGGTS World all the way back in 2005 while the site was still active. While I don't possess ownership of this work and all credit goes to the original creator, I decided to upload it here because I wanted more people to read it, as i don't think too many people did untill now, which is a shame because I personally found it pretty good. The powers they were promised don't come easily, and after years of outright failure, Princess Zelda can't help but wonder if Hylia chose wrong. It certainly doesn't help that the boy fate has tangled her with makes her seethe. Devotion, heartbreak, inadequacy. Faith, perseverance, and courage. This is a story of finding what lies within. Following the events of Breath of the Wild, Link awakens and meets a girl named Sila {See-La} who upon birth became the embodiment of Hope in Hyrule. She decides to travel around with him, following the path of the warrior, stories left to her by her deceased father, Kuzon. Memories of stories told by her father of the Warrior and the Princess defending Hyrule for generations and the memories Link must gather to remember who he is lead them on their path. But while she knows that Link belongs with Princess Zelda according to the story, that's not how their adventures will play out. Sila becomes Link's Spark of Hope that gives him strength to push back Calamity Ganon and defend Hyrule. With the power of all three, will they push back the darkness and save Hyrule? {Not a Silent Link Story - He's a man of little words in this story but I'll leave the talking heads off to Sila, promise.}

But just because Link had no memories, or any interest to reclaim them, didn't mean they wouldn't return to haunt him. Ever since Link woke up, strange things have been happening around the land. Horrific creatures, not quite monster and not quite human, begin appearing at night to terrorize the denizens of Hyrule. Link, not one to simply let such evils do as they please, decides to investigate into the matter as he travels across the land to find a way to destroy these creatures. It should've been just another job for him, just a problem the people needed solved, just another errand for the incarnation of Hylia's hero. But as he investigates, he is haunted by his past. Link's mind cannot remember what happened. But his heart did. He still feels what he lost, what he failed to protect, even after one hundred years. That's what draws something toward Link, the very same evil that created the creatures he faces. It follows and watches him from the shadows, taunting him, waiting for him to remember the past he's forgotten, waiting for the pain to resurface, waiting for the time he can no longer carry the weight of it all. No longer a hero, living a life of isolation far away from the land that had made him a legend once. Resentful and broken, Link hides it best he can, trying to focus on the future and forget. But Zelda remembers him, the person he once was. He's so different now, and perhaps she is too. The whole land is, transformed by war as Ganondorf works to seize all that he believes once belonged to him, in a time no longer. Both Link and Zelda find themselves in the middle of this war, forced to fight and strategize and deal with their own inner demons as well as each other, amidst the war the Hylians fight to regain their land and defeat the King of Thieves. > < .
