Do you believe in genie in a bottle? How about genie in a book? Sounds stupid, right? Well, the witch who put me inside the book is stupid enough to do that. Do you know what it feels like to be stuck inside a book – inside an old and stinking book for over a hundred year? I know and it sucks! You even have to pay the fleas just to land on top of this rubbish book! My life inside that book was dreadful with a capital D! It was b – o – r – i – n – g! There was no one to talk to and no place to go but the room that I designed to make myself at ease. It was terrible. I have powers to grant people’s wishes but never my wishes! And for me to be free, someone has to kiss the book. Of all the places to be stuck, why in the world should it be inside a book? Who will dare kiss a stinking book? I do not even think that anyone would dare touch it! Well there was a girl who was stupid enough to do that. Her name is Christine. At first, I do not like her because I thought that she is like my past three masters. But as days passed by, I learned how to value her. We became good friends… but later on we became more than just friends. Could a genie and a human live a happy and normal life together? Because after granting her three wishes, she will forget everything about me. She will forget that she met a genie who granted her three wishes. She’ll forget about our love for each other. And we will be apart from each other… forever.

Having a genie is always complicated. Bringing him to school makes everything worse. Nothing ever seems to go Megan's way: she's late for everything, failing her classes, and barely registers in the eyes of her peers. Desperate to escape her perpetually middle-of-the-pack life, she scrapes together every last penny she can find, ready to run away. Instead of a fresh start, she finds an old, discarded bottle. When she opens it, a kid her own age appears, ready to grant her heart's desire. Her first, most important wish? To be popular. Overnight, Megan's life takes a drastic turn for the better-and she gets cocky. After a failed bet with the genie, she agrees to let him come to school. Before she knows it, he's worming his way into every part of her newly-improved life. He's in all her classes, friends with her brother, and even getting invites to hang out with her friends. But despite her best efforts, she's starting to see him as something more than just her personal wish-granter; he's almost a friend. But as the person who granted all her desires threatens to take over her life, she has to ask herself: Can she trust the magic she wished for, or is she just a pawn in the genie's own complicated game? This book is a fun, fast-paced story with a thoughtful core about friendship, desire, and consequences.
