Blaise's husband leaves for New York. A girl wearing a red scarf leaves for Paris. A cat named Bonnie plays with cherry blossoms as they float to the ground. All seems well in Ghost Falls, Colorado, a small town on the west slope, high up in the mountains, even though Blaise is alone for the week. However, his fragile peace doesn't last long; His violent, dangerous brother-in-law has just blown into town, and is bent on vengeance.
