❝Weak.❞
❝Useless.❞
❝Pushover.❞

These are the words that are used to describe Princess Skylet le'a Xenlisa, third princess of the Queendom of Nyvalia. She is an abnormality in a family of women renown for being brave, headstrong, and reckless. Everyone expects her to become like her sisters or her mother, Queen Xenlisa, the brave warrior queen who managed to unite the countries and bring peace to the continent for the first time in a hundred years.

But Skylet finds that she'd much rather feed the geese, watch bread rising in the kitchen, or take care of her garden than rule a queendom or take up a position of leadership. After all, she doesn't expect to be chosen as Crown Heiress, being the youngest daughter.

But when misfortune strikes, everything that Skylet knew and hoped for shatters. The peace that her mother struggled so valiantly to achieve was tenuous and vague -- and it came with a price. Haunted by her own weakness, and surrounded on all sides by enemies and political machinations, Skylet is forced learn to navigate the treacherous Nyvalian court and unravel the conspiracy coalescing around her.

If she fails, the only thing she'll be next in line for...is the morgue.

She sneered, smacking her hand against the floor. "Don't lie-" His eyes snapped to her as anger flashed between them. "You were like starlight, like-like the constellations had fallen together in order to create you, as if you were personally molded by the gods themselves." He pressed. "Your spirit glowed like the only light across a sea of barren land- you. . .you're spirit was the only one that felt like. . ." ***** [ word count: 160,000~170,000 ] [ Book 1 of the Crown of Dahlia Trilogy ]

Her Mum constantly works to make ends meet, which means Marla has to put up with gossipy old Bev keeping an eye on her and noisy little half-sister Ribbon. If that wasn't bad enough, her exam results are in... and they aren't good. But at least she has her friends. Asher, the responsible and strong boy who has known her all her life and Ed, the orphaned rebel who loves to stir up trouble. Then there's her, Marla, stubborn, fiery and just plain lost. Life on the estate is same-old same-old, until the senile World War Two veteran, Mr. Pelham, starts freaking Marla out with his staring and rambling, cryptic messages. Is he trying to warn her? Or hurt her? When the bored trio decide to teach the creepy old man it's rude to scare young girls, they learn far too late just how crucial it is to respect your elders. For his daughter, Bridget, has a power unlike anything they've ever seen before and she uses her deadly craft to send them to a place that will teach them the lesson of their lifetime. Bridget has sent them back in time, all the way to World War Two, throwing them into a secret fight for the survival of all magical folk in the world. Marla soon learns what it really means to be a True, and the power her absent father has kept from her all her life... Marla, Ed and Asher are thrown into a world they and their generation have no comprehension of, a world where love is a relic of a life left behind and your only duty is sacrificing all that you have.
